For anyone working in IT, theory alone isn’t enough. Practical experience is crucial to fully grasp concepts and develop the skills needed to design, configure, and manage complex environments. In the early 2000s, network administrators often bought second-hand hardware to build labs for studying and experimenting with configurations before deploying them in production.

Then came virtualization, which greatly simplified the process and made the concept of a lab accessible to many without the need for expensive hardware. Initially used by network administrators, simulators have since become foundational for the training of all IT professionals.
